On Saturday, December 23, YouTuber Manish Kashyap walked out of Beur Jail in Patna, marking the end of his nine-month incarceration over an alleged fake video case. Kashyap, who received a warm welcome from a large gathering of supporters, expressed his determination to resume his work in journalism.
Despite facing legal troubles and accusations related to a fake video depicting the assault of Bihari laborers in Tamil Nadu, Kashyap remained defiant, stating, "I am not afraid of anyone." The release was initially delayed due to a court document error, which was rectified after the necessary paperwork was completed, allowing Kashyap's release from jail.
Manish Kashyap's legal troubles originated from a complaint about a fake video uploaded on YouTube, falsely claiming that migrant workers from Bihar were being assaulted in Tamil Nadu. Despite getting bail in all cases, Kashyap spent nine months in jail.
His release was finalized after the approval from Bettiah Court and completion of necessary paperwork. Kashyap, determined to continue his journalistic endeavors, had faced charges under the National Security Act (NSA), which were later dropped by the Madras High Court.
The video in question was found to be created by another individual, Rakesh Ranjan Kumar. Kashyap's case involves multiple FIRs, highlighting the complexity of the legal proceedings surrounding the alleged fake video.
